A retired high school and college instructor, I have a love for my native far West. I lived for many years in Wyoming and like horses and raising livestock. I value peace, quiet, and solitude. Note that that doesn't mean I don't enjoy hearing one of my son's bands, nor does it mean alone-ness. I am an early riser and like to sit quietly with my coffee and think, meditate, or read for a while each day. I am a hopeless romantic and revel in closeness. I've been called eccentric; a label I won't deny. I love wearing wool shirts, sweaters and vests. Rarely am I found without a vest of some sort on. I enjoy writing with fountain pens; I like my coffee strong; I eat fancy Stilton and Gorganzola cheeses as a snack, and I like long walks in the rain. My weird idea of great fun is blasting full speed across some prairie with a good horse under me. Or quietly casting a fly to a rising trout on a summer evening. My best times, however, are sharing these and other passions with someone. I am quite old fashioned; I take my hat off indoors and tip it to women. I stand when greeting friends, old or new, and still like to open doors for ladies. You will usually find me under some sort of modest. quality Western hat, but I can dress up or down. Harris Tweeds and corduroy are favorites. I'm not afraid of a necktie or having fun in an urban setting. You won't find polyester clothing in my closet nor fake food in my refrigerator. There's a Bernie bumper sticker on my truck. I am a Viet Nam era veteran, former hippie, and fairly well traveled in the United States and Europe, including Prague, Istanbul, Great Britain and other wonderful, and maybe not so wonderful, places. However, I am perfectly content with the West. Two grown sons grace my life. The youngest is a physicist and outstanding musician. He plays a mean electric Dobro in several Fort Collins bands. The other lives in Washington state, farms with horses, and is also an accomplished musician. I have four grandsons, eighteen years old to six months. My politics are very liberal. If your worldview is formed by Fox News and AM talk shows we are probably not compatible. Any match for me must be fairly liberal, a reader and thinker,comfortable in their own skin and have their own interests. I do enjoy cooking dinner together, snuggling by the fire, a walk in Old Town Fort Collins, or anywhere, after a fine dinner together, perhaps an evening ride. I am fairly new to Colorado and would enjoy exploring it with that special someone. Spoiling my partner is a particularly special talent. I come bearing flowers. By our age we are all somewhat set in our ways. That's just fine with me, I'm flexible. I really would ultimately like a long term, committed relationship, but anything from here to there has potential. I do smoke a pipe but can easily adapt to enjoying it in my own discreet way. Chew is not a part of my life.

This could be a rather lengthy list...

Maybe a place conducive to quiet conversation, perhaps with fine coffee, dinner, a hike, or anything of that sort would be fine. Coffee and perhaps a stroll around Old Town Fort Collins seems about ideal for a first meeting. I even enjoy window shopping, although I enter book and kitchen stores at great peril to my wallet. Comfort with any setting for both is important. How about a hike on some mountain ridge with a couple of thousand feet beneath us? A casual ride maybe? I am wide open to suggestions.
